Tillis Joins Resolution to Investigate Origins of COVID-19, Hold CCP Accountable Amid Biden Decision to Rejoin WHO
“From the very first case of COVID-19, the Chinese government has lied to the world about the severity of Coronavirus and facilitated a global pandemic. China’s dishonesty is responsible for the lost lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans,” said Senator Tillis. “Instead of demanding answers and pushing for transparency, President Biden is rejoining the World Health Organization without asking for any meaningful changes to an international organization complicit in spreading this deadly virus. As our nation’s leader, President Biden must hold China accountable for their malicious actions.”

Tillis Reaffirms Commitment To Protecting Life
“This week, the Biden Administration took unacceptable steps to force North Carolina taxpayers to pay for abortion services both abroad and here in the United States through the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid,” said Senator Tillis. “As the Left continues to increase its attacks on the pro-life movement and the unborn, we must vigorously renew our efforts to defend the sanctity of life. Each of us has a duty to protect the most vulnerable among us, even those who are not yet born, which is why I couldn’t be more proud of my work to stop the ending of innocent, unborn lives.”

Tillis, Colleagues Reintroduce Sarah’s Law to Require Detention of Violent Illegal Immigrants
The bill is named in honor of Sarah Root—a young woman who was killed by an illegal immigrant who was released by federal law enforcement due to a loophole in the law.

Tillis: Don’t Mess with New WOTUS Rule; Stand with Workers, Farmers, and Businesses
“Protecting our clean water system is a necessary regulation, however, we cannot allow these regulations to cripple one of North Carolina’s largest industries, and the Obama-era WOTUS rule creates an unnecessary burden for North Carolina farmers and businesses,” said Senator Tillis. “I encourage President Biden and my colleagues on the left to rethink the rollback of the Trump administration’s order on WOTUS before they do irreversible damage to the agriculture industry.”

Sens. Tillis & Grassley, Rep. Bishop Reintroduce Bill To Stop Sanctuary Cities
The legislation would clarify the DHS detainer authority, clearly establish the authority of states and localities to maintain custody in cases in which a detainer has been issued, and incentivize cooperation between law enforcement agencies and DHS through the reimbursement of certain detention, technology, and litigation-related costs.

Tillis and Sinema Reintroduce Bipartisan Bill to Support Families of Deceased Veterans from COVID-19
Currently, veterans who pass away from coronavirus may have their cause of death labeled as “COVID-19” without accounting for service related disabilities that further complicate their coronavirus diagnosis. This bill ensures those disabilities are taken into account so family members have access to the proper benefits.

Sen. Tillis, Rep. Budd Reintroduce the Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act
Now, we see President Biden making good on the liberal agenda by announcing his plans to release detainees and suspend the functions of ICE in his first 100 days, standing by these sheriffs and letting lawlessness preside. If politicians want to prioritize reckless sanctuary policies over public safety, they should also be willing to provide just compensation for the victims. The Justice for Victims of Sanctuary Cities Act is commonsense legislation that will enhance public safety and hold sanctuary jurisdictions accountable for their refusal to cooperate with federal law enforcement.

Tillis, Colleagues Reintroduce Bipartisan Bill to Help Prevent Future Pandemics
This is an international security issue, and other nations must cooperate and comply with U.S. health and safety standards as we continue to trade goods, including animals for food or medicine. I am proud to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure the United States works with international leaders to stop irresponsible practices from harming our great nation.

Tillis Joins GOP Senators In Demanding Judiciary Hearing for DHS Nominee
Senator Tillis sent a letter to incoming Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-IL), incoming Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Gary Peters (D-MI), and outgoing Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), calling for the Senate Judiciary Committee to hold a hearing on Alejandro Mayorkas’s nomination to be Department of Homeland Security Secretary.

Tillis Statement on Procedural Vote To Dismiss Articles of Impeachment
On January 6, I said voting to reject the states’ electors was a dangerous precedent we should not set. Likewise, impeaching a former President who is now a private citizen would be equally unwise. The impeachment power can be turned into a political weapon, especially if it is primarily used to disqualify an individual citizen from running for public office.
