Tillis Leads Legislation to Punish Criminals for Targeting Law Enforcement Officers
I am committed to supporting the men and women who swear an oath to protect us, and that is why I am proud to introduce this legislation that would create federal penalties for criminals who target law enforcement officers. Particularly after the recent attacks on North Carolina Sheriff Deputy Ryan Hendrix and officers in Los Angeles, it is time to pass this legislation and send a clear message that acts of violence like this are unacceptable and that there will be no escape from justice for these criminals.

Tillis, Colleagues Send Letter to Disney CEO Over Filming in Xinjiang Where More Than a Million Uyghurs Are in Camps

Tillis Leads Bipartisan Effort to Continue Fighting the Opioid Epidemic During COVID-19
U.S. Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), John Cornyn (R-TX), and Joe Manchin (D-WV) sent a bipartisan letter to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Acting Director Timothy Shea urging the DEA to keep the opioid epidemic a priority in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Specifically, the Senators requested information about how the DEA’s work to combat the opioid epidemic has been impacted by COVID and how the agency has adjusted operations to address this challenge.

Sens. Tillis and Burr, Rep. Budd Secure $25 Million For Lexington Train Station
This morning, I spoke with DOT Secretary Elaine Chao who she informed me that Lexington is being awarded a nearly $25 million grant that will transform rail and bus travel in the barbeque capital of the world. After advocating on behalf of Lexington, I am proud we could secure these funds to construct a rail and bus station in Lexington's Depot District and make much-needed improvements downtown.
