Tillis Statement on Procedural Vote To Dismiss Articles of Impeachment
On January 6, I said voting to reject the states’ electors was a dangerous precedent we should not set. Likewise, impeaching a former President who is now a private citizen would be equally unwise. The impeachment power can be turned into a political weapon, especially if it is primarily used to disqualify an individual citizen from running for public office.

Senator Tillis sent a letter to incoming Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-IL), incoming Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Gary Peters (D-MI), and outgoing Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), calling for the Senate Judiciary Committee to hold a hearing on Alejandro Mayorkas’s nomination to be Department of Homeland Security Secretary.

Tillis, Colleagues Re-Introduce Constitutional Amendment to Keep SCOTUS at Nine Justices
Historically, since 1869, there have been nine Supreme Court Justices. The number of Supreme Court Justices is set by Congress, not the Constitution. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and other radical liberals have all recently said they are open to the idea of packing the Court.

Today, I informed the incoming Biden administration that I regrettably won’t be able to attend President-elect Biden’s inauguration because of my recovery from a recent foot surgery. Our nation faces many unprecedented challenges, and I look forward to finding common ground with President Biden on areas where we may agree, and vigorously—but always respectfully—opposing policies where we do not.

Tillis Statement On Electoral College Certification
The American people should have full faith in our election system, which is why I led the passage of voter ID legislation in North Carolina and why I supported President Trump’s right to call for recounts and bring challenges to the courts. I share the concerns of many Americans regarding the lack of security of widespread mail-in voting and the partisan actions of activist Democratic lawyers who succeeded in making questionable changes to the voting process while Americans were already casting their ballots. Even if it wasn’t enough to change the outcome of the election, irregularities and fraud are never acceptable and they should be investigated and prosecuted when appropriate.
