WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Thom Tillis announced a $3.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to go towards constructions of a new airport traffic control tower at Asheville Regional Airport. All funding comes directly from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), which Senator Tillis helped negotiate, write, and pass into law.
“This funding will be used to replace the existing 61-year-old control tower and provide a new state-of-the-art traffic control tower to better serve the airport and community,” said Senator Tillis. “I am proud to have helped author and pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which made this project and other critical infrastructure projects like it possible. The people of North Carolina continue to see direct benefits in their communities from this law, and I will continue to fight to ensure North Carolina receives as much funding as possible from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.”
