WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Thom Tillis announced $27 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation to go towards improvements at Charlotte Douglas International (CLT) Airport and Raleigh-Durham International (RDU) Airport.

CLT will receive $15 million for the replacement of up to 16 passenger boarding bridges and RDU will receive $12 million to fund a portion of the Terminal 2 Landside Expansion Program, which expands the ticketing check-in/lobby, baggage claim areas, security checkpoint and international arrival processing area.

“CLT and RDU are cornerstones of North Carolina’s transportation system, and we must continue to invest in both to support their growth,” said Senator Tillis. “This award will improve the experience passengers have at CLT and play an important role in RDU’s expansion, two important projects that I will continue to support.”
