WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) announced he will co-chair the Senate Taiwan Caucus for the 118th Congress. Senator Tillis will co-lead the committee with Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) to strengthen the U.S. – Taiwan partnership.
“Taiwan is a vital strategic partner to the United States and we must continue to strengthen our friendship in the face of Communist Chinese aggression,” said Senator Tillis. “Communist China has repeatedly taken steps to threaten Taiwan’s freedom and destabilize the Indo-Pacific region with aggressive military actions. America must do everything we can to push back against these provocations and support Taiwan. I am proud to co-chair the Senate Taiwan Caucus with Senator Menendez to show strong bipartisan backing from Congress, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on this important initiative.”
