“The far left is so out of touch that they want to reduce penalties for violent crimes in D.C. while residents, federal employees, members of Congress, visiting constituents, and even our visiting diplomats are facing greater risk,” said Senator Tillis. “I hope President Biden proves his commitment to public safety by working with my colleagues and me on commonsense, bipartisan proposals to keep our communities safe.”

“One of the bills I hope he supports is a bill I filed last Congress and intend to file again called the Protect and Serve Act,” Senator Tillis continued. “We need to sign it into law because it creates penalties for those who assault and kill our brave men and women in law enforcement. We need to show our commitment to law enforcement and to law and order in this country, and I believe the Protect and Serve Act will send a clear signal to friends and foes alike, that we care about law enforcement.”

“It is long past time for the federal government to say ‘enough is enough’ when it comes to crime in this country,” Senator Tillis concluded.
