Tillis Sent Bipartisan Letter to HHS Pushing for Funds

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) applauded the announcement that North Carolina hospitals will receive $303,629,301 in Provider Relief Fund payments. This announcement comes after Senator Tillis and 15 of his colleagues sent a bipartisan letter making this request. In total, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will pay out $10 billion to hospitals that serve a disproportionate number of Medicaid patients or provide large amounts of uncompensated care.

“Hospitals and health care providers who disproportionately serve Medicaid and low-income patients in North Carolina have not received the resources needed to combat COVID-19,” said Senator Tillis. “Thank you to the Department of Health and Human Services for listening to our concerns and distributing these much-needed funds quickly to help North Carolina’s most vulnerable communities.”
