RALEIGH, N.C. – Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, issued the following statement on Chairman Johnny Isakson’s announcement that he is retiring at the end of 2019:

“Senator Johnny Isakson is one of the kindest and most decent human beings and public servants I’ve had the honor of working with. Johnny has been an outstanding chairman of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, always forging bipartisan collaboration and consensus. I’m very proud of our work to pass historic legislation to reform the VA to deliver better health care for our veterans, as well as our initiatives to provide veterans with better career and educational opportunities. The Senate will miss Johnny’s leadership and his steadfast devotion to public service, and I know he will continue to work tirelessly during the remainder of his tenure to deliver even more results for the people of Georgia.”
