CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Today, Senator Tillis issued a statement on the one-year anniversary of Brett Kavanaugh being sworn-in as an associate justice of the Supreme Court. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Tillis played a vital role in advancing Kavanaugh’s confirmation and pushing back against a concerted effort by the left to destroy Kavanaugh’s reputation and defeat his confirmation.

During the Kavanaugh hearings, Tillis predicted the smears against Kavanaugh were part of a new playbook by the left to stop President Trump’s judicial nominees using any means necessary. Despite the extreme obstructionist tactics on the part of Democrats, including left-wing groups that have started storming Tillis’ office and hearings, Tillis has played a critical leadership role in the confirmation of more than 150 of President Trump’s judicial nominees, including Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

“I was proud to fight for the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who has already proven to be a fair-minded judge who bases his rulings on the Constitution and the text of the law as written,” said Senator Tillis. “The Kavanaugh confirmation process will sadly be remembered as a national embarrassment after a liberal mob presumed guilt and tossed aside basic due process norms to smear the sterling character and reputation of a good man and judge. It’s a reminder to the American people of the low depths in which Democrats sunk for political gain, especially as they are now similarly drumming up impeachment against President Trump to appease their fringe left-wing base.”
