Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) welcomed Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue to North Carolina where they toured farms in Union and Rowan Counties and held question and answer sessions with North Carolina farmers. Earlier today, Senator Tillis penned an op-ed urging Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats to do their job and pass the USMCA instead of spending all their time and resources attempting to impeach President Trump.
“It was an honor to welcome Secretary Perdue to North Carolina and introduce him to our state’s incredible farmers who work tirelessly around the clock without fanfare to feed our nation and the rest of the world,” said Senator Tillis. “I’m proud to support President Trump’s agenda to strengthen American agriculture, including rolling back burdensome red-tape and pursuing free and fair trade deals like the USMCA that strengthen North Carolina’s agriculture industry.”
Senator Tillis and Secretary Perdue started the day touring Circle S Ranch Turkey Farm in Monroe and holding a Q&A with NC farmers. They stopped for lunch at Smoke Pit BBQ in Monroe so Secretary Perdue could get a taste of real BBQ. Senator Tillis and Secretary Perdue finished the day touring Patterson Farms in China Grove and talking to farmers about trade and labor in North Carolina.
