WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) applauded President Trump for granting Governor Cooper’s disaster declaration for North Carolina and ordering federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Dorian.
Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by Hurricane Dorian in the counties of Brunswick, Carteret, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Hyde, Jones, New Hanover, Pamlico, Pender, Sampson, Tyrrell, and Washington.
“I want to thank President Trump for granting Governor Cooper’s disaster declaration request to assist North Carolinians who were affected by Hurricane Dorian. I spoke with the President last night and he understood we needed to get relief to North Carolinians in these 14 counties as soon as possible and worked to cut the red tape. I am grateful for Representatives Greg Murphy, Dan Bishop, and David Rouzer for also reaching out to the President and their work to get assistance to the state. I will continue to work with the North Carolina delegation to get the Governor’s Individual Assistance request approved as North Carolinians continue to recover.”
