WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) issued the following statement after text of the updated version of the Senate’s Better Care Act was released:

“I look forward to carefully reviewing the changes made to the Better Care Act. From what I’ve already seen, major improvements have been made, including a significantly bigger investment to combat and treat opioid addiction, and more funding to help control the rising costs of premiums for individuals and families.

“I’m pleased that Senate leaders have committed to an open amendment process, which will allow all senators – Republicans and Democrats alike – to propose additional improvements to the legislation. I hope my colleagues will join me in supporting the motion to proceed so we can begin this robust, bipartisan amendment process.

“We cannot afford to continue with the unsustainable status quo of Obamacare, which has imposed skyrocketing premiums, costly mandates, and fewer choices on the American people.”
