"This is a humanitarian crisis regardless of how you feel about border security,” said Senator Tillis. “These are people crossing the border illegally who are dying. And they’re dying because we don’t have the right mix of people, technology and infrastructure in place to have the situational awareness where we can apprehend them and save them. I feel like before we start solving the broader problem that we would get to what’s outside the scope of this committee, we ought to talk about ending the humanitarian crisis and the growth of the problem by providing Border Patrol Agents all with the resources that they need to secure it."
