WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) expressed disappointment after the Senate Democrats refused to end their filibuster of the FY 2017 Defense Appropriations bill. The funding bill, which was voted out of the Senate Committee on Appropriations in a 30-0 vote, would provide the $568.1 billion needed to fund the nation’s Armed Forces.

“Senate Democrats have once again voted to block a commonsense bill that funds our military, the very same bill that every Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee voted in favor of just months ago,” said Senator Tillis. “As a Senator who has the distinct honor of representing a tremendous military community that includes Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune, I find it abhorrent that Harry Reid has managed to find a way to turn funding for our men and women in uniform into an election year political game.”

Senator Tillis previously spoke on the Senate floor twice to call on Senate Democrats to end their filibuster of the FY 2017 Defense Appropriations Bill. You can watch the speeches here and here.
