Today, Senator Tillis (R-NC), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s press conference at the Pentagon:
“President Obama decided to hold his second photo-op in two weeks, where he offered nothing more than empty platitudes and tough talk on ISIS, and once again failed to outline a comprehensive strategy to defeat radical Islamic terrorism. The only new thing we heard during the press conference is that the Secretary of Defense will be soon leaving to visit with troops in the Middle East.
“Today we also learned that the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, out of fear of ‘bad public relations,’ secretly ordered his department agents not to investigate the social media accounts of foreigners applying for U.S. visas, blocking a simple screening process that could have helped prevent one of the jihadists who perpetrated the terrorist attack on San Bernardino from entering America in the first place.
“The American people are on edge, and the Administration’s failure to provide the nation and the rest of the free world with the strong and steady leadership it so desperately needs is becoming glaringly apparent.”
